Preview: Disclosure, The Drum at Schuba’s on October 28th

Disclosure might just be the most unique dance act to pass through Chicago this fall; South London brothers Guy and Howard Lawrence have taken the dance community by storm in 2012 with their unique blend of two-step garage rhythms, house-inflicted soulful vocal samples, and dubstep basslines. Did we mention they are both below the legal drinking age? The Croydon duo’s genre-bending sound has been a breath of fresh air and represents a current movement being undertaken in dance music. The sounds that are resonating the strongest at the moment are coming from artists that borrow elements from several genres, and don’t rely on the same old formulas. While they have been lauded for their so-fresh-and-so-clean-clean studio productions, they are equally praised for their mixing skills and this show will put the best of both worlds on full display. Suffice to say, this one is going to be very special, especially considering the tiny intimate nature that Schuba’s provides. We can guarantee you one thing: the next time Disclosure passes through the Windy City, they’ll be at a much larger venue. Come witness some fledgling artists who are on the cusp of greatness so early in their careers.
